Mr. WEST RUSSELLasked the Minister of Health if, in view of the presentation of the Report of the Royal Commission on Local Government, when the claims of different towns for increased municipal status will be taken into consideration; and what procedure in connection therewith will be adopted?
§ Mr. GREENWOODAs the hon. Member is aware, the Royal Commission on Local Government recommended certain changes in the procedure in connection with the grant of Charters of municipal incorporation. This matter has been under consideration by the Departments concerned and a communication has been addressed to those who have petitioned indicating the revised procedure which must be adopted by them. When the new requirements have been complied with it will be possible for consideration of petitions to be resumed. As the communication in question is somewhat lengthy I am sending a copy to the hon. Member.
