HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 cc360-1W
Lieut.-Colonel SPENDER-CLAY

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he is aware that the rights of reproduction from certain pictures within the Palace of Westminster are subject to private restriction; and whether he will take steps to abolish a commercial mono-poly on a picture hanging in a national collection?

Mr. LANSBURY

I am aware that the ownership of the copyright of certain pictures within the Palace of Westminster is owned by private individuals. I regret that I am quite unable to contemplate the abolition of private property of this kind at the present time.
