HC Deb 07 November 1929 vol 231 c1255W
Mr. DAY

asked the Postmaster-General whether any decision has been arrived at with reference to the general proposal to establish call offices at rural post offices; and, if so, whether he can give particulars of the districts in which these facilities will be established?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

Since 1st May of this year public call offices have been established at nearly 2,500 sub-post offices and railway stations in rural areas throughout the country. Authority has been given for the opening of call offices at approximately 1,500 other rural post offices and railway stations, and further call offices will be authorised in suitable cases.
