HC Deb 14 March 1927 vol 203 cc1663-4W
Mr. TAYLOR

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the proposal of the Government of India to establish an Indian house in London has received the approval of the Indian Legislature; whether any part of the cost will fall on British funds; whether he will inform the House as to the estimated total cost of such a scheme; and whether any negotiations have been entered into with regard to a site for the proposed building?

Earl WINTERTON

So far as my Noble Friend is aware, the proposal though accepted by the Standing Finance Committee of the Legislative Assembly has not yet been placed before the Assembly itself, but this will be done this month. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative, and to the fourth part in the affirmative. The total estimated cost is about £300,000 initial and £15,600 recurring.
