§ Major HORE-BELISHAasked the Postmaster-General whether arrangements have been made for the fusion of the 1147W Plymouth and Exeter telephone districts in the early part of 1925; whether the proposed arrangement will necessitate the removal of the present staff to Exeter; whether he is aware that the telephone users in Plymouth will suffer inconvenience as a result of the administration from Exeter of the telephones in the Plymouth area; and whether, before coming to a decision, he will take account of the general apprehension felt in Plymouth?
§ Mr. HARTSHORNI am satisfied that the arrangements which have been made1148W for the amalgamation of the Exeter and Plymouth telephone districts early in 1925 will not cause any inconvenience to the telephone users in Plymouth or in any way impair the efficiency of the telephone service. The engineering and operating staffs at Plymouth are not affected by the fusion of these districts, which has been decided upon in the general interests of economy and efficient administration. Only a small number of post office officials (mainly clerks) will be transferred from Plymouth to Exeter on the closing of the office at Plymouth.
