HC Deb 21 March 1922 vol 152 c270W
Sir O. PHILIPPS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India the number of British subjects (inhabitants of Great Britain and Ireland) who have intimated their intention to avail themselves of the special terms recently issued by the late Secretary of State for retiring from the Indian Civil Service and other British services in India?

Earl WINTERTON

As was intimated by the late Secretary of State, in reply to a similar question on 21st February, it is only possible to give the number of applications which, up to date, have reached the India Office. Further applications are doubtless in the hands of the local Governments to whom they have to be submitted in the first instance. The numbers received so far at the India Office are:

Indian Civil Service 20
Indian Police 15
Public Works Department 8
Indian Educational Service 4
Indian Forest Service 1
