HC Deb 19 December 1921 vol 149 cc417-8W
Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Minister of Health whether he has taken steps, in accordance witr his promise recently given, to urge upon the Lunacy Board of Control the desirability of posting up in the waiting rooms of all public asylums the terms of Section 79 of the Lunacy Act and take means, in addition, to communicate to the next-of- kin of all private patients (including ex-service men) the privilege guaranteed to them by Section 72 of the said Act, to the end that the natural rights secured thereby to relatives shall not be ignored and the provisions of the Act in this respect infringed, as has been the case up to the present?

Sir A. MOND

Asylum authorities are acting on the suggestion made by the Board of Control that the regulations as to visitation which are sent to friends of patients shall set out the effect of Section 79 of the Lunacy Act. The Board of Control are considering the suggestion in regard to Section 72.
