HC Deb 25 November 1920 vol 135 c662W
Lieut.-Colonel CROFT

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the plaques which are to be granted to relatives of men who fought in the war are being manufactured by the Government at Acton; what has been the output and the total expenditure on this factory; and with what object and on whose authority was it set up?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I am informed that the total output of plaques to date is 180,983, and that the amount expended on this production up to the 31st October last is, approximately, £60,000. The plaque is being presented to the next-of-kin of officers and soldiers who lost their lives during the War. The factory was set up in 1918 on the authority of the Secretary of State for War.
