HC Deb 03 May 1920 vol 128 c1729W
Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the position with regard to the German workmen who took refuge in the territory occupied by His Majesty's Army during the recent disturbances in the Ruhr district; and whether, before these men were compelled to return to Germany, the German Government undertook to protect them from the vengeance of the Reichswehr?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

All these men have now returned voluntarily to unoccupied territory, presumably because they were satisfied with the assurance contained in a public declaration on the subject which, I am informed, was issued by the German Government on 22nd April.
