HC Deb 04 November 1909 vol 12 c2150W
Mr. WEDGWOOD

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the Tunstall post office officials are all females; whether their duties involve starting work at 5.30 a.m., lighting fires, etc.; and, if so, when he proposes to commence employing male assistance for the heavy early morning work?

Mr. BUXTON

I had already decided to employ male officers upon the duties in question. Unforeseen difficulties have occurred in procuring suitable officers, but I hope to be able to arrange the matter soon.
