Lord Fraser of Carmyllie

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 65. In moving this amendment I shall speak also to Amendment No. 73.

The amendments will ensure that the Keeper of the Registers of Scotland has up-to-date information regarding those registered by the Scottish Conveyancing and Executry Services Board as executry practitioners or recognised financial institutions which have notified the board of their intention to offer executry services. When dealing with applications for registration in the Land Register for Scotland, the keeper requires to examine links in title such as confirmations and it is therefore important for him to be aware of who is entitled to prepare a confirmation as an executry practitioner or as a recognised financial institution. It will be noted that there is a similar obligation on the board as regards independent qualified conveyancers.

Moved, That the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 65.—(Lord Fraser of Carmyllie.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
