HL Deb 25 October 1990 vol 522 cc1527-8
The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare)

My Lords, I am afraid that I have to bother the House with a few more carry-over Motions for Private Bills. The first concerns the Avon Light Rail Transit (Bristol City Centre) Bill, which is a House of Lords Bill waiting to go before a Select Committee. I beg to move the first Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

Moved, That the promoters of the Bill have leave to suspend any further proceedings thereon, in order to proceed with the Bill, if they shall think fit, in the next Session of Parliament, provided that notice of their intention to do so be lodged in the Office of the Clerk of the Parliaments not later than three o'clock on the day before the close of the present Session, and that all fees due thereon up to that period shall have been paid;

That such Bill shall be deposited in the Office of the Clerk of the Parliaments not later than three o'clock on the third day on which the House shall sit after the commencement of the next Session of Parliament, with a declaration annexed, signed by the agent, stating that the Bill is the same in every respect as the Bill at the last stage of the proceedings thereon in this House in the present Session;

That the proceedings on such Bill shall in the next Session of Parliament be pro forma only in regard to every stage through which the same shall have passed in the present Session, and that no new fees be charged to such stages;

That the Standing Orders by which the proceedings on Bills are regulated shall not apply in the next Session of Parliament to such Bill in regard to any of the stages through which the same shall have passed during the present Session;

That any petitions relating to the Bill presented in the present Session shall stand referred to the Select Committee on the Bill in the next Session;

That no petitioners shall be heard before the Select Committee on the Bill, unless their petition has been presented within the time limited within the present Session or deposited pursuant to paragraph (b) of Standing Order 109 relating to Private Business;

That in relation to the Bill, Standing Order 110 relating to Private Business shall have effect as if the words "under Standing Order 109" were omitted.— (The Chairman of Committees.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and it was ordered that a Message be sent to the Commons requesting their concurrence therewith.
