HL Deb 07 November 1988 vol 501 cc479-80
The Lord Privy Seal (Lord Belstead)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. Under Standing Order No. 44 no two stages of a Bill may be taken on the same day. It is usual at the end of a Session to suspend this Standing Order for the purpose of taking through the House any money Bills that may arrive from another place. As your Lordships will be aware, the House does not normally amend money Bills and all stages are taken on one day. However, on this occasion there are two money Bills, the European Communities (Finance) Bill and the Rate Support Grants Bill which we propose to take through the House on Thursday. I beg to move.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 44 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken on one day) be suspended until the end of the Session. — (Lord Belstead.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
