HL Deb 10 June 1986 vol 476 c127
Viscount Whitelaw

My Lords, I beg to move the second Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

Moved, That Standing Order 38 (Arrangement of the Order Paper) be dispensed with to enable the Committee stages of the Children and Young Persons (Amendment) Bill and of the Disabled Persons (Services, Consultation and Representation) Bill to be taken before the Motion standing in the name of the Lord Holderness on Wednesday 18th June.—(Viscount Whitelaw.)

Lord Monson

My Lords, despite its somewhat complex wording the Motion down for 18th June in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Holderness, is an extremely important one, dealing as it does with the possible threat to the health and safety of the people in parts of this country as a result of nuclear contamination. I therefore ask the noble Viscount whether it is right that a debate of such importance should be postponed until extremely late in the evening.

Viscount Whitelaw

My Lords, in answer to the noble Lord, I understand that my noble friend Lord Holderness, whose prayer the noble Lord rightly says it is, has been consulted and is happy for the Private Member's Bill to precede the prayer. I hope that there will be no inconvenience caused by that.

Lord Monson

My Lords, I am grateful to the noble Viscount for that information.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
