§ The Lord Chancellor (Lord Hailsham of Saint Marylebone)My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time. It is a consolidation Bill bringing together a variety of enactments concerning the duties of excise relating to betting and gambling which have been made over the past decade. It takes into account changes made by the Finance Bill currently going through Parliament. Unless any noble Lord objects, the Bill will, in the usual way, go to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills for consideration. I be to move.
