My Lords, I beg to move that this Report he now agreed to.

The Report was as follows:

"1. DISPLAY OF HISTORIC DOCUMENTS

The Committee agreed to a recommendation from the Administration Sub-Committee that the historic documents, including the Death Warrant of Charles I, now on display in the Salisbury Room, should in future be on public display in the Royal Gallery.

2. PRIVILEGES FOR HUSBANDS OF WOMEN PEERS

The Committee agreed to a recommendation from the Administration Sub-Committee that husbands of women Peers should be entitled to sit below the Bar on the Spiritual side of the House, to use the Peeresses' Gallery and to have access to the Prince's Chamber for the purpose of signing a book.

3. PARLIAMENTARY PRINTING

The Committee approved provision to meet the cost of additional temporary staff to reproduce essential House papers at times when the Stationery Office is unable to print them.

4. PARLIAMENT OFFICE

The Committee were informed of the promotion of Mr. B. P. Keith to Senior Clerk.

The Committee agreed, in principle, to an increase in 1979 in the authorised complement of Clerks to 19, plus 2 seconded.

5. DEPARTMENT OF THE GENTLEMAN USHER OF THE BLACK ROD

The Committee were informed of a review of the Doorkeeper and Attendant grades and agreed to the regrading of:

The Committee recommended that, subject to pay policy, an early opportunity be taken to review the differential between the grade of Senior Doorkeeper and the Principal and Second Principal Doorkeepers.

6. HANSARD REPORTING STAFF

The Committee authorised

  1. (a) revised charges for the supply of typists for the reporting of Debates; and
  2. (b) revised attendance fees to permanent staff when the House sits after 10.30 p.m.

7. OFFICIAL SHORTHAND WRITER

The Committee approved an increase in the scale of fees for the Official Shorthand Writer.

8. PALACE OF WESTMINSTER TELEPHONES

The Committee were informed of the proposed employment of an Assistant Communications Manager and authorised payment of the appropriate share of the cost of this new post.

9. NEWS SERVICE

The Committee approved payment of the House of Lords' share of an increased rental for the teleprinter news service.

10. SUPERANNUATION

The Committee were notified of the award of a Transfer value payment to the European Parliament in respect of Mr. David Dewar's service in the House of Lords from 5 March 1962 to 3 September 1973."
