HL Deb 13 June 1978 vol 393 c310

Lord SANDFORD asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why they have not yet responded to the Verney and Stevens Reports about aggregates and minerals; and when they intend to do so.

Baroness BIRK

These two reports contain some 160 detailed recommendations covering a wide range of subjects which have required widespread consultations. In addition, the recommendations in the report of the Verney Committee have had to be considered in the light of the subsequent downturn in construction activity which has led to a reduction in demand for aggregates. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State, my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and my right honourable and learned friend the Secretary of State for Wales expect to publish their conclusions on these reports later in the year.

House adjourned at eight minutes past nine o'clock.
