HL Deb 03 March 1977 vol 380 cc740-1
Lord PEART

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. This Motion is necessary as a result of the Statement which I made yesterday. I do not think I need to explain it in detail beyond saying that until this step is taken it will not be possible to delete the ship repairing companies from the Bill. If the Motion is agreed to, the House will be able to go directly into a Committee of the Whole House after the Second Reading of the Bill next Tuesday. I beg to move.

Moved, That in view of the Government Statement of yesterday,—

  1. (1) No Petition praying to be heard upon the merits against the Bill shall be heard; and
  2. (2) The condition relating to the publication of notices in the Report of the Standing Orders (Private Bills) Committee of 23rd February shall be dispensed with.—(Lord Peart.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
