HL Deb 04 July 1974 vol 353 c349

3.17 p.m.

LORD REIGATE

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will now abolish the 2½p admission charge for children to the Whitehall Banqueting Hall.

LORD GARNSWORTHY

My Lords, children on organised educational visits are already admitted free. Since the noble Lord tabled his Question I have discussed the 2½p entrance fee for other children with my honourable friend the Minister of State for Urban Affairs. He has expressed himself as being anxious to review the position, and that I am sure he will do.

LORD REIGATE

My Lords, while expressing astonishment at that satisfactory Answer, may I ask the noble Lord whether he will draw the attention of the noble Lord, Lord Strabolgi, to that reply and see that a similar principle is extended to other institutions, including country houses?

LORD GARNSWORTHY

My Lords, I am quite sure my noble friend Lord Strabolgi is already aware of what the noble Lord has said.
