HL Deb 21 November 1973 vol 346 c1051

2.35 p.m.

LORD BALFOUR OF INCHRYE

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government why, contrary to the stated intention of Her Majesty's Government to introduce legislation on the salmon and freshwater fish of Scotland, based on the White Paper, Command 4821, there was no mention of such legislation in the gracious Speech from the Throne; and whether such legislative proposals can still be expected during the present Session of Parliament.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (LORD WINDLESHAM)

My Lords, it is still the Government's intention to introduce legislation on salmon and freshwater fisheries in Scotland as soon as the Parliamentary programme permits, but because of the many competing demands on Parliamentary time it is unlikely that it will be presented in the present Session of Parliament.
