HL Deb 20 November 1973 vol 346 cc904-5

3.7 p.m.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD HAILSHAM OF SAINT MARYLEBONE)

My Lords, I rise to move that this Bill be now read a second time, and would remind your Lordships that this is a pure Consolidation Bill. It consolidates the provisions of the Food and Drugs Act 1955, the Slaughterhouses Act 1958, relating to slaughterhouses and knackers' yards, and the Slaughter of Animals Act 1958. The Bill will be referred, in due course, to the Joint Committee.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
