HL Deb 22 June 1972 vol 332 cc373-4
LORD BALOGH

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they can make a statement on the results of the re-negotiation of the gas price paid by the Gas Council to firms with oil and gas licences.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (THE EARL OF LIMERICK)

My Lords, no; there has been no re-negotiation of any long-term contract.

LORD BALOGH

My Lords, are we to understand that the contracts were not carried out? There was a statement in this House that there would be a re-negotiation of the gas price paid to the oil companies this spring.

THE EARL OF LIMERICK

My Lords, I am unaware of any such statement.
