HL Deb 20 June 1972 vol 332 c216
LORD POLWARTH

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper, and in doing so perhaps it would not be out of order for me to say that I hope that this proposal for the order of taking the Committee stage will commend itself to all sides of the House as being the most logical way of going through the Bill. Also, now that the Bill has received a Second Reading, may I inform noble Lords that it has now been agreed that the first day of the Committee stage will be taken, not as orginally planned on July 3, but on Thursday, June 29. I beg to move.

Moved, That it be an Instruction to the Committee of the Whole House to whom the Bill has been committed that they consider the Bill in the following order, viz.:—

LORD HUGHES

My Lords, I should like to say very briefly that I am in complete agreement with the way in which this stage is to be taken. We shall start the Committee stage at least with an advantage over another place, where they did not know anything about this method until it was far too late in the day to take advantage of it.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
