HL Deb 11 December 1969 vol 306 cc654-5
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD GARDINER)

My Lords, this is a straight Consolidation Bill and, except that one or two further repeals are added, it is substantially the same Bill as I introduced last Session, to which your Lordships gave a Second Reading, and which went in the usual way to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills. It was towards the end of the Session and the Joint Committee were so occupied with the Statute Law (Repeals) Bill that they were unable to consider this Bill as well. Therefore, it is now reintroduced earlier in the Session. If your Lordships give the Bill a Second Reading, it will of course go back to the Joint Consolidation Committee in the usual way. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a. —(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
