HL Deb 16 December 1963 vol 254 c4
VISCOUNT GOSCHEN

My Lords, I should like to inform the House that at a suitable moment after 3.30 p.m. my noble friend Lord Newton will make a statement on the Census in 1966.

EARL ALEXANDER OF HILLS-BOROUGH

My Lords, is this a different date from that generally followed for this purpose? If it is not an ordinary Census for a decade, what period is it going to cover?

THE MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFOLIO (LORD CARRINGTON)

My Lords, it is rather a special one. Perhaps if the noble Earl will wait until the statement is made, all will be revealed to him.
