HL Deb 26 February 1958 vol 207 cc925-6
THE EARL OF LUCAN

My Lords, on behalf of my noble Leader, Lord Alexander of Hillsborough, who regrets that he is unable to come to the House to-day owing to weather conditions, I beg to ask the Question which stands in his name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government how many of the fifty-seven ships and craft at present under construction to the order of the Admiralty are being built in Royal Naval dockyards.]

THE EARL OF SELKIRK

My Lords, of the vessels shown in my Explanatory Statement on Navy Estimates as under construction, two are under construction in Her Majesty's Royal Dockyards. Last year one was completed in the Royal Dockyards, and in the next year work will start on a further five ships.
