HL Deb 11 July 1951 vol 172 cc758-9

2.50 p.m.

LORD CALVERLEY

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government whether they can bring to the notice of the Railway Executive the desirability of attaching one sleeping car to the Leeds train leaving St. Pancras at 11.50 p.m., or, alternatively, to the Leeds train leaving King's Cross at 11.35 p.m.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT, (LORD LUCAS OF CHILWORTH)

My Lords, I feel sure that the noble Lord will appreciate that the Question which he asks is one affecting the day-to-day operation of the railways, and is, therefore, one for the British Transport Commission. They have informed me that they already have the matter under review, and I have no doubt that the Chairman of the Commission will let the noble Lord know the result.

LORD CALVERLEY

The answer is a lemon!
