HL Deb 05 November 1946 vol 143 cc985-6

4.3 p.m.

LORD CARRINGTON

My Lords, I beg to ask the question which stands on the Paper in the name of my noble friend Lord Long.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government, what are the overall future conditions of the Territorial Army, especially as they affect officers and N.C.Os.]

LORD PAKENHAM

My Lords, I hope to be able to make a definite statement on this subject within the next two or three weeks. Meanwhile, the Territorial Army and Air Force Associations have already been given the broad outline of their future role. The Government are fully alive to the undesirability of further delay in the re-formation of the Territorial Army.

LORD CARRINGTON

I am obliged to the noble Lord.
