HL Deb 10 July 1940 vol 116 cc882-3

Clause 1, page 1, line 13, leave out from ("1867") to ("is") in line 15.

VISCOUNT CALDECOTE

My Lords, this is simply a drafting Amendment, which has been agreed to in another place for the purpose of meeting a suggestion made by the Canadian Government. I should like to take the opportunity of correcting a mistake which I made on a former occasion, and to which my noble and learned friend Lord Atkin has called attention. I said that this Bill was in consequence of a decision of your Lordships' House; I should have said a decision of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council—an obvious slip which I have already taken steps to correct in the bound volume of the OFFICIAL REPORT. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Viscount Caldecote.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

House adjourned during pleasure.

House resumed.
