Order of the Day for the House to be put into Committee read.

Moved, That the House do now resolve itself into Committee.—(Lord Ponsonby of Shulbrede.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

House in Committee accordingly:

[The EARL OF ONSLOW in the Chair.]

Clause 1 [Repeal of s. 61 (3) of 20 & 21 Geo. 5 c. 43]:

THE LORD CHAIRMAN

There is an Amendment on the Paper in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Ponsonby, to insert a new clause at line 5. I think it had better come at line 10, after Clause 1. Therefore I will put the Question that Clause 1 stand part of the Bill.

On Question, Clause. 1 agreed to.

LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE moved, after Clause 1, to insert the following new clause:

Correction of clerical error in s. 100 of 20 & 21 Geo. 5. c. 43.

".In paragraph (e) of Section one hundred of the Road Traffic Act, 1930 (which provides for the application of Part IV of the said Act to Scotland) for the reference to Section ninety of the said Act there shall be substituted a reference to Section ninety-one thereof." The noble Lord said: I agree with what the Lord Chairman has just said, that this Amendment had better be made after line 10. It will come in as the second clause. Advantage has been taken of the passage of this small Bill, which I explained on Second Reading, to insert here a small correction of a clerical error in the Act. The Act is used a great deal up and down the country and has been constantly referred to, and this opportunity is being taken of correcting a small clerical error. I beg to move.

Amendment moved— After Clause 1, insert the said now clause.—(Lord Ponsonby of Shulbrede.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

Remaining clause agreed to.

The Title:

An Act to repeal subsection (3) of Section sixty-one of the Road Traffic Act, 1930.

LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE

The Amendment which your Lordships have just made will necessitate a consequential Amendment in the Title. It will now have to read "and to correct an error in Section one hundred" of the Act.

Amendment moved—

In the Title, after ("to") insert ("correct an error in Section one hundred of the Road Traffic Act, 1930, and to").—(Lord Ponsonby of Shulbrede.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

The Title, as amended, agreed to.
