HL Deb 14 March 1929 vol 73 c520

Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Commons Message of yesterday.

THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF DONOLIGHMORE)

My Lords, I beg to move that we agree with the Commons Resolution that it is expedient to refer the Railway (Air Transport) Bills to a Joint Committee. Let me say in one sentence in connection with what I said on another, but a kindred, subject a few days ago, that I have been informed by the promoters who ask for the Joint Committee, that there are fifty-nine Petitions against the Bills and that fifty-three of the Petitioners support the application for a Joint Committee. I think, therefore, that your Lordships are fully entitled, in accordance with your usual practice, to agree to this Resolution.

Moved, That this House do concur in the following Resolution communicated by the Commons—namely, That it is expedient that the Southern Railway (Air Transport) Bill, the Great Western Railway (Air Transport) Bill, the London and North Eastern Railway (Air Transport) Bill, the London and North Eastern Railway (Air Transport, Scotland) Bill, the London Midland and Scottish Railway (Air Transport) Bill and the London Midland and Scottish Railway (Air Transport, Scotland) Bill be committed to a Joint Committee of Lords and Commons.—(The Earl of Donoughmore.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

Ordered, That a Message he sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.
