HL Deb 17 May 1923 vol 54 cc248-9
LORD SOMERLEYTON

My Lords, I beg to move the Resolutions standing in my name. These special Orders have been made by the Electricity Commissioners and confirmed by the Minister of Transport, and require the approval of each House of Parliament in accordance with Section 26 of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1919, before coming into force. The Orders have been presented to Parliament and prints of each are now available for the use of Peers. In the case of the first five Orders no objection has been made. There was an objection to the sixth Order, the South-East Lancashire Electricity Order, but that has been withdrawn. This is the first Order made and confirmed under Section 7 of the Act of 1919. It will show a considerable economy in saving and I trust will receive your Lordships' approval. If there is any point on which explanation is desired I shall be glad to give it, but, if not, I propose to move these Orders en bloc, as they are all formal and there is no objection to them.

Moved, That the Special Order made by the Electricity Commissioners under the Electricity (Supply) Acts, 1882 to 1922, and confirmed by the Minister of Transport under the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1919, in respect of the parish of Radyr, in the rural district of Cardiff, in the County of Glamorgan, which was presented on the 22nd day of March, 1923, be approved.—(Lord Somerleyton.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
