HL Deb 22 March 1923 vol 53 cc580-1
THE EARL OF BIRKENHEAD

My Lords, with reference to the Question which I have on the Paper—namely, to ask His Majesty's Government whether they propose to take any steps to modify by legislation the power of trades unions to make compulsory levies for political purposes—I am entirely at your Lordships', disposal. The subject of the Notice, however, is one of extreme importance, the adequate discussion of which must take a great deal of time, and if it meets with your Lordships' convenience and wishes I should like to carry it over until after the Easter Recess.
