HL Deb 02 May 1890 vol 344 c3

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, it will be in the recollection of your Lordships that the noble and learned Lord thought it right to postpone the discussion on the Second Reading of this Bill until to-day. If the object and operation of the Bill is simply to preserve existing rights further postponement would be unnecessary; but should there be any great encroachment in point of jurisdiction I should desire to have an opportunity of alleging reasons why your Lordships should not assent.

LORD HERSCHELL

My Lords, I will, of course, at once accede to the request of my noble and learned Friend, and I will fix the Second Reading for Thursday next.

Second Reading put off to Thursday next.
