HL Deb 23 July 1889 vol 338 cc1069-70

Order of the Day for the Third Reading read.

Moved, "That the Bill be now read 3a."—(The Lord Henniker.)

THE EARL OF MILLTOWN

I would like to ask my noble Friend whether there is now any objection to giving the name of the generous donor who has come to the assistance of this poor country and built a National Portrait Gallery at his own expense?

* LORD HENNIKER

I do not know who the donor is, and therefore I cannot give my noble Friend the information he asks for. I understand that the donor has particularly stipulated that his name should not be made known, and therefore I do not regret that it is not in my power to give any other answer, for I could not, in any case, disclose it.

Motion agreed to.

Bill read 3a (according to order): An Amendment made; Bill passed, and sent to the Commons.
