HL Deb 28 May 1878 vol 240 cc826-7

Order of the Day for the Second Reading, read.

VISCOUNT MIDLETON,

in moving that the Bill be now read a second time, said, that it had been very fully discussed in the House of Commons. The first part dealt with the erection of houses or buildings at less than a prescribed distance from the centre of roads, passages, and highways, to the opening of roads and streets, and to structural defects in theatres and music-halls; the second part contained provisions for byelaws in reference to foundations; and the third part dealt chiefly with powers of inspection. As there were Petitions before their Lordships' House with respect to the Bill, it would go before a Committee named by the Committee of Selection.

Motion agreed to; Bill read 2a accordingly, and referred to a Select Committee; the Committee to be proposed by the Committee of Selection.
