HL Deb 06 August 1855 vol 139 c1856

Moved to resolve— That the Introduction of the Militia Ballots Suspension Bill has been delayed in consequence of the War rendering it desirable that the Power to resort to the Ballot should not be suspended in the usual Manner until the latest possible Period of the Session, in case the Exercise of the same should become expedient; and inasmuch as the Exercise of the said Power is not at present required, the Circumstances which render Legislation on the Subject Matter of the said Bill expedient are of such Urgency as to render the immediate Consideration of the same necessary.

Agreed to; Bill read 2a (according to Order), and committed to a Committee of the Whole House To-morrow.
