HL Deb 30 May 1842 vol 63 c977
The Earl of Galloway

presented a petition against railway travelling on Sunday. The noble Lord was proceeding to ask a question in relation to this subject, when the Duke of Buccleuch entered the House and whispered to the Lord Chancellor, and the Duke of Wellington. These noble Lords, with the other Members of the Government immediately left the House. The Lord Chancellor almost instantly returned, and the fact that her Majesty had been shot at becoming known, their Lordships at once adjourned.
