HC Deb 24 July 1939 vol 350 cc1028-31
Mr. Greenwood

May I, for the convenience of the House, ask the Prime Minister how far it is proposed to proceed to-night in the event of the suspension of the 11 o'Clock Rule?

The Prime Minister

We desire to obtain the Second Reading of the Prevention of Violence (Temporary Provisions) Bill, and the Committee stage of the War Risks Insurance Bill. We hope, also, that there will be time for the consideration of the Building Societies (No. 2) Bill.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)." —[The Prime Minister.]

The House divided: Ayes, 255; Noes, 112.
