HC Deb 24 February 1937 vol 320 cc2006-9
Mr. Attlee

May I ask the Prime Minister what business he proposes to take to-day?

The Prime Minister

We are suspending the Eleven o'Clock Rule in order to take the Second Reading of the Local Government (Financial Provisions) Bill, and the Committee stage of the necessary Money Resolution. We hope to make further progress with the outstanding Supplementary Estimates—the Committee stage of the Post Office Estimate—and the Report stage of the Estimates which were recently considered in Committee.

Mr. Attlee

I hope the Prime Minister does not propose to take the Post Office Estimate at a very late hour?

The Prime Minister

No, certainly not.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.]

The House divided: Ayes, 257; Noes, 107.
